All visitors except Indian nationals must hold a passport and valid visa. Visa can be obtained at Nepalese diplomatic missions and consulates abroad or at entry points. To extend your visa, visit the Department of Immigration in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Children below 10 years old are exempt from visa fees. Upon arrival, fill out a form with a passport photo to obtain an entry visa at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Tourists who intend to visit Nepal must hold a valid passport and visa.

Tourist entry visas can be obtained for the following durations from Royal Nepalese Embassies, Consulates, mission offices abroad, or at the following immigration offices in Nepal:

Tourist Visa Fees
The visa fees or other fees to be charged for the issuance of a visa for entry into or presence in Nepal, for extension, regulation of over-stayed visas, travel permits, or transference shall be prescribed in Appendix-9. Children below ten years are exempt from visa fees. Fees for citizens of countries that charge higher or lower fees are based on reciprocity.
Fees to be levied while issuing tourist visa by the Mission or entry point:
US$ 25 for 15 days multiple-entry visa
US$ 40 for 30 days multiple-entry visa
US$ 100 for 90 days multiple-entry visa
No visa fee for SAARC member state passport holders (30 days)
Tourist Visa Extension Facility
Visa extension fee for 15 days or less: US$ 30
Visa extension fee for more than 15 days: US$ 2 per day
Maximum extension up to 150 days in a visa year (Jan–Dec) at the Department of Immigration
Gratis Visa
Children below 10 years
Dependents up to 16 years holding foreign passports of Nepalese parents
Citizens of Nepali origin after first passport issuance from a Nepal-based mission
Citizens of SAARC member countries and the People's Republic of China
Foreigners who have stayed continuously for 15 days and re-enter in the same visa year
Foreign tourists entering for 3 days or less
Important Information to Tourists
People of the following countries do not get visa on arrival: Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan.
Be mindful of visa dates and passport number; apply for extension within validity.
Obtain arrival/departure stamps at entry/exit points to avoid complications.
Living without a valid passport or visa is a punishable offense.
Deviation from prescribed trekking permit routes is a violation of law.
Avoid brokers or counterfeit visa/permit documents.
Changing purpose of stay or working on a tourist visa is prohibited.
Register at police and Immigration check posts along trails; inform embassy if needed.
Report problems along trails to the nearest police or Immigration post.
Change money with recognized dealers and keep formal receipts.
Inform Immigration Office or Police Station of any address changes in the visa application.
Contact the Department of Immigration for visa transfer when obtaining a new passport or travel document.
Keep passport and trekking permits with you while trekking.
Filming in restricted areas without permission is prohibited.
Do not remove visa stickers or alter passport records.
Respect local traditions, customs, and culture; protect local pride.
Furnish address change notices to Immigration Department within 7 days.
Register with local police if staying over 120 days and traveling for more than 24 hours.
Leave campsites cleaner than found; no open fires; burn waste safely; preserve water and plants; follow conservation measures.

Indian citizens may travel on the basis of one of the following documents:

Registration certificate issued by the Indian embassy
Ad hoc/temporary identity card issued by the Indian embassy
Document with photograph issued by the sub-divisional magistrate or authority above
